"Due to the coronavirus outbreak many blood banks are now facing severe blood supply shortage. Blood helps trauma and burn patients, premature infants, heart surgery patients, organ transplant recipients and those fighting cancer, among other healthcare needs. We understand why people may be hesitant to come out for a blood drive but want to reassure the public that blood donation is a safe process and proper social distancing measures will be put in place. We thank Vitalant New Jersey for partnering with our Board of Health and community-at-large to provide much needed services for the healthcare industry. We are counting on every last drop of these lifesaving blood donation measures as it offers second chances and many tomorrows to those who depend on it. This is just another example of how our community can play our part and provide assistance to overcome this pandemic with hope and love together.” - Mayor Mohamed T. Khairullah
